Excalibur

Using a food dehydrator is a common aspect of self-sufficient living. Just as maintaining a garden is common, food preservation goes hand in hand. After all, when a large crop of fruits and vegetables are produced, how long will it last? Preserving through dehydration, pickling, and canning methods allows your crops to last longer.

Nevertheless, when it comes to preservation, dehydration often keeps in the most nutrients without altering the taste of the fruit or vegetable. In such cases, an Excalibur dehydrator gives the best results. A typical food dehydrator uses a series of stacked trays and a heat source below but, with this method, moisture becomes trapped at the top, which makes drying out take much longer. Excalibur dehydrators, however, use polycarbonate cabinets and a door with trays that slide in. A rear-mounted heat system, called the Parallexx Horizontal-Airflow, is used instead, allowing heat to be distributed evenly. The warm air, then, removes the moisture from the foods and pushes it out the front.

Another important quality of an Excalibur dehydrator is the ability to regulate temperature. Different items dry at different temperatures, such herbs, for example, at 95°F and meat at 155°F. Excalibur dehydrators allow the user to adjust the temperature in this range to appropriately dry out different types of foods and herbs.

Almost any food can be used with Excalibur dehydrators. This includes vegetables, meats, fish, herbs, and some dairy. Additionally, those using these dehydrators also dry out crafts projects and pet food inside.

Efficiency is another quality of Excalibur dehydrators. For example, food inside such a dehydrator will dry ten times as fast compared with other brands, particularly as the moisture is removed and does not build up inside. When it comes to your electric bill, additionally, an Excalibur dehydrator only uses between four and five cents per hour. While this device can be left on for up to 26 hours, it will also shut off automatically when the timer setting is used.
