Country Living Grain Mills
A Country Living grain mill is one of the highest-quality products of its kind on the market. All Country Living mills are designed with a solid I-beam made from cast aircraft aluminum and use double industrial sealed bearings, a stainless steel shaft, and carbon steel grinding plates. In fact, a Country Living grain mill is so durable that each one comes with a lifetime warranty.
Growing and grinding your own grains in one significant aspect of producing food for living sustainably. If you own a small farm for growing your grains, you probably have several types growing at once, each with a different size. Country Living grain mills adjust to the size of each type of grain, as each mill comes with a knob for changing the size. But, if the grains you need to grind are larger than what's offered, you can add the corn and bean auger to the setup. This auger is needed for larger grains, such as corn, various beans, and coffee, and simply needs to replace the standard spring auger.
Grinding grain with a hand mill is a manual process and, with a large amount of grain, this can become tiring. One option has been to add a motor to a Country Living grain mill. In fact, the brand sells separate motors and kits that attach to their mills. A one-ninth horsepower reduced gear motor attaches to the mill and, once hooked up, runs at the recommended speed. No intermediate pulleys are needed.
If you're looking for a way to multitask with grinding your grain, many Country Living mills can be attached to an exercise bike. This way, you'll grind your grain as you get in at least a day's worth of exercise. On a basic level, the setup of the bike and grain grinder needs a mounting platform with a slotted two-by-six board to lock the bicycle into place. The tension of the belt between the grinder and bicycle should still be adjustable.
When attaching the bike to the grinder, make sure that the feet of the exercise bike fit against the board. Once youve found the best belt tension between the grinder and the bike, tighten the wing nut and bolt. Additionally, you may need to add a three to four-inch pulley hub for use with a V-belt. Ideally, an exercise bicycle should have a cast iron flywheel in front and enough space between the flywheel and frame to add a V-belt. Once youve assembled all of these parts, you can find a speed for grinding your grain as you exercise at the same time.
