Lessening or completely eliminating your dependence on water and electrical systems is a goal of self-sufficient living, and water storage tanks assist with this. EarthWave Living carries products by Norwesco, the largest manufacturer of rotationally-molded storage containers. We carry residential water storage tanks, as well as larger below and above ground containers. All have a seamless, one-piece design with impact resistance.

A residential water storage tank is built to fit inside the home. All containers sold through our store are large enough to store a supply of water for your family, and they can also fit through the door. One model of residential water storage tank by Norwesco, for example, allows you to keep 55 gallons in seven feet of space. Made from high-density Exxon material, these water storage tanks for the home have a dark blue color, which prevents light from coming through and reduces algae formation. All residential water storage tanks are equipped with two spigots.

Rain barrels, on the other hand, are used by homeowners for more immediate water needs. One of these polyethylene barrels stays outdoors and collects water over time – or will fill up after a particularly heavy storm. The water inside, then, can be filtered for drinking or used to hydrate a garden. If overflowing during a storm is a concern, all barrels are equipped with an attachment to connect one barrel to another.

A larger amount of water may need to be stored, and above ground water storage containers can hold 1000 to 2500 gallons each. Below ground storage tanks, also called cisterns, hold a similar amount but are made with a rounded design. Made from 100-percent virgin polyethylene resin, these cisterns sold through EarthWave Living meet FDA specifications and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for portable water. Poly water storage tanks such as these will not rust or corrode when placed underground.
